Elche are still searching for their first win and have managed just two points, while Real Madrid have won four matches and are keeping pace with Barcelona. Elche Stuck in a Slump

On the plus side, Elche showed some character at San Mamés, fighting back to earn a draw after a tough match. For much of that game, the Basques dominated, but after the break Franco Buonanotte converted a penalty to put the visitors ahead. However, that effort remained Elche’s only shot on target for the entire match, and they couldn’t hold onto the slim lead. In short, the result in Bilbao was significantly better than the quality of the performance.

In terms of personnel, the hosts have positive news. The only confirmed absence is Yago Santiago, who continues his recovery from injury. Elche’s main problem ahead of Madrid’s visit isn’t so much who is unavailable, but the lack of consistency in their play.

Despite the convincing scoreline, Real Madrid ran into serious trouble after halftime. The visitors came out aggressively in the second period, pulled one back and created several dangerous chances that required multiple saves from Courtois. The dissatisfaction with the performance even reached the Bernabéu stands, where fans began to boo their own team. The tide turned only after Güler’s introduction in the 72nd minute: the hosts regained control of the ball and reasserted their dominance. So even a big win couldn’t hide Real’s problems during certain stretches of the match.

A packed schedule may force the “Galácticos” to rotate. The Elche game comes just three days after the Rayo Vallecano fixture, and on September 20 they face a crucial derby against Atlético Madrid. The injury list is slowly getting shorter: Militão, Mendy and Rodrygo remain sidelined, but Tchouaméni and Asensio have recovered and are back in the manager’s plans.
